Okay here we go Part-time jobs for college students in 2025 are literally the only reason I’m not drowning in credit card debt right now.
I’m writing this at 1:14am with my third energy drink of the night, my roommate is watching tiktoks without headphones again, and I can smell the burnt popcorn someone made at 11pm. Classic. I’ve tried… god… probably way too many of these jobs in the last two years. Some were actually kinda dope. A lot were soul-crushing. A few made me question every life choice that led me to this moment.
But anyway — here’s my real, messy, slightly unfiltered ranking of the top 10 part-time jobs for college students in 2025 (at least from someone who’s currently living in this hell)

1. Food Delivery (DoorDash / Uber Eats / Grubhub)
Money: $13–25/hr + tips (very swingy)
Vibe: freedom + music + rage at apartment buildings with no buzzer
Best and worst part is the same: you are your own boss… until some lady makes you climb 4 flights for $1.87 tip
2. On-Campus Jobs (Library, Rec Center, Dining Hall, Tutoring)
Money: $12–18/hr usually
Vibe: extremely easy schedule, walking distance, supervisors who kinda get that you have midterms
Downside: everyone knows you. There is zero anonymity. You will see your professor while you’re mopping nacho cheese.
3. Freelance Social Media / Content Creation
Money: $15–60+/hr once you get clients
Vibe: feels cool until you’re crying at 3am trying to understand reels algorithm
I got $800 for making 12 instagram posts once. Took me 47 hours total. Math is not mathing.
4. Tutoring (especially STEM & languages)
Money: $20–50/hr
Vibe: you feel smart for 45 minutes then immediately stupid when next student asks something you forgot
Pro move: tutor rich high school kids. They pay stupid money.
5. Retail (especially nicer stores + commission)
Money: $14–22/hr + commission
Vibe: pretending to care about $300 candles
I once sold $1400 worth of skincare in one shift. Made $97 commission. Felt like a god for 12 minutes.
6. Babysitting / Nannying (weekend + date night)
Money: $18–35/hr cash
Vibe: playing roblox and getting paid to watch kids sleep
Weird flex but I’ve made more money watching Encanto 47 times than some of my friends made at “real” jobs.
7. Customer Service (remote chat support)
Money: $15–21/hr
Vibe: you can do it in pajamas… and you’ll hate humanity a little more each shift
I lasted 7 weeks. The people were nice. The customers were demons.
8. Pet Sitting / Dog Walking (Rover)
Money: $15–40 per walk/sit
Vibe: getting paid to hang out with dogs >>> everything else
Literally the only job where both sides are usually happy to see you
9. Event Staff / Usher / Game Day Staff
Money: $15–25/hr + free food/perks
Vibe: you get paid to watch concerts and college football
Only downside is drunk people. And standing for 9 hours.
10. Mystery Shopping / Focus Groups / User Testing
Money: $10–150 per task (very random)
Vibe: feels illegal but it’s not
I once got $120 + free dinner for telling a restaurant their chicken was dry. Best gig ever.
Quick bonus list of jobs I would NEVER do again even if they paid double:
- Cold calling sales
- Night audit at sketchy motel
- Selling knives door to door (yes someone actually tried to recruit me)
- Anything involving multi-level-marketing

Anyway.
If you’re broke, tired, and kinda dying inside — just pick one.
Doesn’t have to be perfect.
Doesn’t have to be forever.
Just has to get you through this semester without having a mental breakdown in the dining hall.
